Short description GWM14896 -
GWM14896 ESB Moneypoint Security of Supply Project – Auxiliary Boilers and Ancillaries. Detailed description The Contracting Entity intends to procure EITHER a complete turnkey contract (Lot 1); OR separately awarded supply contracts (Lots 2 and 3) with a single separately awarded design and build contract (Lot 4). Applicants are welcome to bid on any individual lot or any combination of lots. At the time of issuing, the Contracting Entity favours complete turnkey solutions, but recognises that there may be advantages to a split contract approach.
ESB Moneypoint Generating Station is a coal-fired 915 MWe plant, consisting of three generating units. This Station requires new ‘auxiliary boilers’ to be permanently installed on site to reduce the start-up times of the plant’s main boilers, which are used for electricity generation, and to support the plant’s transition away from burning coal to burning 100% HFO. There are currently no auxiliary boilers installed on site.
It is required that one large Fuel Oil fired shell boiler is installed on site, with an output capacity of approximately 30,000 kg/hr superheated steam.
It is also required that one (or more) electrically powered shell boiler(s) are installed on site with a total capacity of approximately 30,000 kg/hr superheated steam. Thus, a total availability of approximately 60,000 kg/hr superheated steam is required.
A full design package for the Fuel Oil boiler and electrically powered boiler(s) will be required, such that these new machines can be connected to the existing Station’s services and terminal points in a safe, reliable, and efficient manner. Design includes, but is not limited to, process, pipework, electrical, control and instrumentation, civil works. The Contracting Entity is already progressing with the design and construction of a new boiler house (building shell) to house this new steam raising plant.
