The Authority is committed to facilitating the use of zero emission vehicles which it sees as being key to achieving its net zero goals. The Authority has also adopted a Carbon Roadmap which includes specific reference to low carbon transport as one of the key workstreams. The delivery of a step-change in the pace of EV charging rollout is a key element identified in the roadmap. The Authority has been given an indicative allocation of £1.4m by the Office for Zero Emission Vehicles (OZEV) to deliver on street residential EV chargepoints and are looking to deliver a concessionary contract with a CPO or multiple CPOs which opens the opportunity for additional investment in EV charging infrastructure from both all parties. The Authority's EV charging strategy, adopted in 2024 sets out eleven key goals and looks to deliver at least 500 standard chargepoints by the end of 2026, and a further 300 by the end of 2030 across sites in North East Lincolnshire as part of a sustainable approach to EV charging that is easy to use, inclusive and accessible, and offers good value for money for the Authority and local residents. The Authority is looking to allocate the LEVI Capital funding via a regional framework contract for the purposes of predominantly supporting the needs of residents who live in areas that do not benefit from the ability to charge a vehicle off-street. The project includes the use of publicly owned car parks and other non-highway sites where these can be accessed and used by local residents in lieu of there being no options to provide on-street charging facilities.
